COVID-19 & HHT

As the Covid-19 pandemic is unfortunately circulating in every corner of our country, HHT Ireland has received many concerns about the practice of the nasopharyngeal swab.

HHT Ireland and Dr Adrian Brady – Medical Director of our National HHT Centre in Mercy University Hospital, Cork –  have prepared a recommendation to Covid-19 testing for HHT patients.  This recommendation suggests to health professionals to perform an oropharyngeal swab instead of nasopharyngeal swab in HHT patients.

Therefore, in the event you have to have a swab taken, we advise you to bring any documentation you might have certifying that you are suffering from HHT, together with this recommendation and show both documents to the healthcare personnel performing the swab.
