World leaders working together to drive the search for better treatments

The 15th HHT International Scientific Conference, hosted by CureHHT, took place from October 15-19, 2024, in Mandelieu-la-Napoule, France. This prestigious event brought together leading researchers and experts from across the globe to share the latest advancements in understanding Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT) and developing new potential therapies. Participants collaborated on groundbreaking research, aiming to uncover the mechanisms of HHT and improve treatment options for patients worldwide.

HHT Ireland had the privilege of sending two distinguished scientific representatives to this important conference: Petronella McLoughlin and Dr. Elzanne Jansen van Rensburg. Dr. Jansen van Rensburg, who is both a patient and an anaesthetist-in-training at University Hospital Galway (UHG), made a notable impact at the event. Her poster presentation on sclerotherapy earned her a well-deserved second place award, highlighting her contributions to the ongoing research in this field.

The HHT International Scientific Conference provides an invaluable platform for experts to exchange knowledge, build collaborations, and inspire further research aimed at improving patient outcomes. The insights and connections made during this gathering have the potential to drive significant advancements in HHT treatment and understanding. As we await a full report from our representatives, we celebrate their dedication to the cause and the promising work being done to combat HHT on a global scale.
