HHT Ireland is very happy to announce that the second international guidelines for the Diagnosis and Management of HHT are now available.

These international HHT guidelines are meant to develop evidence-informed consensus guidelines regarding the diagnosis of HHT, the prevention of HHT-related complications and the treatment of this complicated disease. These guidelines replace the previous guidelines dating back over 10 years!

Experts coming from more than 15 countries around the world worked together on questions concerning 6 areas of HHT:

  • Epistaxis
  • Gastrointestinal bleeding
  • Anaemia and iron deficiency
  • Liver VMs
  • Pediatric care
  • Pregnancy and delivery

New guidelines to improve the management and quality of care

The guidelines have been developed to help health practitioners and HHT Patients to seek the most appropriate care in a given clinical circumstance. They inform health professionals, HHT Patients and users of the health system about best practices acquired from science in order to improve the management and quality of care.

HHT Ireland has been included in the process by reviewing the content of the guidelines, along with several other European HHT Patient Organisations and is very happy to be part of this wonderful project.

A dedicated platform to access the guidelines

To facilitate and improve the dissemination of these guidelines, a new platform has been built so that all stakeholders can freely use the international guidelines of HHT.

In addition, the platform gives access to a resource section made up of methodological sheets organised by thematics that you can download for free, according to your needs.

To visit the online guidelines, go to https://www.hhtguidelines.org/

You can share this link with your practitioner and encourage him/her to read them.

We would like to thank Christopher McMahon Family and CureHHT for funding and organising this vital project.
